Day 166 - Saturday, September 25, 2021
Rocks and boulder scrambling were abundant the first 4 - 5 miles of today’s hike. Not sure if this was “Rocksylvannia” saying goodbye to the SoBo thru hikers or was it kissing the NoBo thru hikers hello??!! Either way we are looking for blue skies and better hiking conditions the next several days. We ran into “Papa Groop” again today. He’s all smiles and giggles as he will complete his thru hike Wednesday if all goes as planned ππ».
Kinder, gentler section of trail. So I thought. I was just walking along using my trekking poles and my right one kicks out on me and I literally touched the ground with one fingertip to “catch” myself. Can’t believe I just gave up a fall with a “touch” π‘. Well that evens the score; even Steven so they say! Stay turned π…
Today we are hiking from PA 325 (1167.2 NoBo) to the Susquehanna River, North end of Clark’s Ferry Bridge, US 22/322 (1151.3 NoBo) for a total of 15.9 miles.
We began hiking at 8:30 am.

Note: the rock outcrop is approximately 15’ high so the flag is quite large.
We finished hiking at 4:00 pm. Now down the road to our new accommodations in Carlisle, PA… the life of a slack packer π.

“Acts of generosity in this wild and primitive setting…where basic amenities…are intentionally absent–are often received in a heightened sense of wonder and gratitude by hikers. These acts of generosity are referred to as “trail magic.”
