Day 157 - Thursday, September 16, 2021

AT Hiker and  author Meredith “Nimblewill” Eberhart once said… “you’re going to fall, you’re going to get discouraged … and you’re going to get wet.”  Today’s forecast is for rain throughout the day so we are definitely going to get wet and possibly discouraged. Hope we don’t fall 😳🙏🏻.

Today we are hiking from PA 33, Wind Gap (1280.6 NoBo) to Little Gap Road, Danielsville, PA (1265.2 NoBo) for a total of  15.4 miles.

We began hiking at 10:00 am; little bit of a late start 😬.

I would be shocked if we didn’t climb right out of the box 😵‍💫. And overall, I don’t think Rocksylvannia is so tough… that will probably come back to bite me for saying that 🤭.

Leaves are already falling… and hiding all the rocks. 😈

Turtle Power sharing a little “Trail Love” 🥰.

Meet “Papa Groop who is from Indianapolis via Virginia. He’s a flip-flopper as well and he began his thru-hike on February 16th. He will complete his thru hike when he reaches Pine Grove. Congratulations “Papa Groop”!

View by Hahn’s Overlook.

One last stroll through the rock infested trails for the day coming down from Hahn’s Overlook… more tomorrow I’m
sure 🥴.

We finished hiking at 5:00 pm. It never did rain today 🤗🤔 but I don’t think we will be as lucky tomorrow… oh well.

Appalachian Trail Countdown:
Total trail miles: 1954.2 miles
Trail miles left to go: 238.9 miles

Till next time... Happy Hiking  🥾

😋

“Acts of generosity in this wild and primitive setting…where basic amenities…are intentionally absent–are often received in a heightened sense of wonder and gratitude by hikers. These acts of generosity are referred to as “trail magic.”
