Day 154 - Monday, September 13, 2021

We stayed an additional night at Turtle Power’s which resulted in a 2 hour drive back to NJ for our hike today. I didn’t enjoy getting up at 4:00 am 😡‍πŸ’« but we’re  slack packing in a local hotel tonight to be closer to the trail πŸ™πŸ».

Today’s hike will continue in NJ from Sunrise Mountain Road (1324.9 NoBo) to Camp Road (1307.0 NoBo) equaling 17.9 miles.

We hit a significant milestone with today’s hike: we exceeded 1900 trail miles (1912.4 miles) and with yesterday’s hike we have less than 300 miles to go (298.6 miles)  πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

We began hiking at 8:00 am.

Catfish Ridge.

View from Catfish Ridge. You can easily see the rock ridge and trail from the road below.

Catfish Lookout Tower.

We came upon this dead  Eastern Copperhead  laying in the Millbrook-Blairtown Road 😳🀭. It was every bit of 3 feet long.

View of Millbrook Village and Culvers Lake from Rattlesnake Mountain.

We finished hiking at 5:00 pm. Tomorrow’s forecast is for rain in the am so we are taking a “Nero” hiking 11.1 miles to the  Hikers Parking at the Delaware Water Gap and NJ/PA border. Then on to “Rocksylvania” 😬.

Appalachian Trail Countdown:
Total trail miles: 1912.4 miles
Trail miles left to go: 280.7 miles

Till next time... Happy Hiking  πŸ₯Ύ

πŸ˜‹

“Acts of generosity in this wild and primitive setting…where basic amenities…are intentionally absent–are often received in a heightened sense of wonder and gratitude by hikers. These acts of generosity are referred to as “trail magic.”
