Day 143 - Wednesday, September 1, 2021

We are seeing a “bubble” of SoBo thru hikers the last few days. And surprisingly enough, lingering NoBo thru hikers are still coming through. I hope they realize that they are pushing the envelope of making it to Baxter State Park to summit Katahdin before the Hunt Trail officially closes on October 15th πŸ€”πŸ˜³. Well, thats one thing that we don’t have to worry about πŸ˜‰.

And I want to give a final congratulations to our friend “Navigator” who officially completed his thru hike this past Monday. We summited Katahdin with him last Wednesday but then  he had to complete a short section in the 100 Mile Wilderness that he skipped over to make his reservations at Baxter State Park. Kudos “Navigator” & Jenny πŸ‘πŸ»!

Today we are continuing hiking in the Green Mountain National Forest from Keifer Road (1690.0 NoBo) to Danby-Longlove Road (1671.6 NoBo) equaling 17.4 miles.

We began hiking at 8:00 am.

Having lunch… one of Jean’s delicious tomatoes.

It looks like they were giving cairn building classes… literally dozens of miniature cairns all over the area.

Cairns at White Rock Cliffs.

Clarendon Gorge Suspension Bridge.

Alan “Faceplant” Stuart  Obituary. Thru-hiker died this past June. RIP “Faceplant”.

Such a simple, complex word …

Rock scrambling at North Clarendon. Thought I was back in New Hampshire πŸ₯΅πŸ₯΄.

We finished hiking at 5:00 pm beating the rain πŸ˜‰.

Till next time... Happy Hiking  πŸ₯Ύ

“Acts of generosity in this wild and primitive setting…where basic amenities…are intentionally absent–are often received in a heightened sense of wonder and gratitude by hikers. These acts of generosity are referred to as “trail magic.”
