Day 126 - Wednesday, August 11, 2021
The ferry was a canoe… 🥴. The Captain was Cheryl Anderson.
Today we are hiking the from East Flagstaff Road (2021.6 NoBo) to US 201, Caratunk, ME (2041.9 NoBo) for a total of 20.3 miles.
This is the stream that outlets Pierce Pond. The Thru Hikers Guidebook noted it must be forded but we were able to make our way across on the right keeping our hiking shoes on 👍🏻
Pierce Pond.
Boardwalk through wetlands.
1775 Benedict Arnold Expedition Route to Canada
The West Carry Pond Lean-to.
East Carry Pond.
There was a bees nest the size of a basketball right in the middle of the trail, 6 feet high. Other hikers were warning unsuspecting approaching hikers. News travels quickly along the trail…
We finished hiking at 5:00 pm. It tied to rain a couple times during the day, but nothing of any amount. I never did have to put my rain coat on. I was pretty “moist” from hiking anyways 🥵 as temperatures did reach the 80’s and humidity was high.
😋
“Acts of generosity in this wild and primitive setting…where basic amenities…are intentionally absent–are often received in a heightened sense of wonder and gratitude by hikers. These acts of generosity are referred to as “trail magic.”
