Day 105 - Thursday, July 15, 2021
We woke up to clear skies and this bright yellow ball that was warm on your skin; it felt very nice. Wonder what it is - I’m not complaining š. Today’s high is expected to reach the low 80’s.
Today is our “100th or Centennial Hike” š ! We are continuing from NH 25A (1784.6 NoBo) to High Street (1795.5 NoBo) for a total of 10.9 miles. High Street is about a 1/3 of the way up the south side of Mt. Moosilauke. We will encounter the remainder of that tomorrow which will be a challenging hike as the north side is very steep and I’m betting very rocky as well š¤.
We began hiking at 10 am. It’s going to be a “warm” hike today š.
Turtle Power almost missed the daily starting pic….š. Well, actually he did but I took a second one.
Everything is still very wet…š”. And we started right off with a 1200 ft climb… of course! We better get use to it as we haven’t seen anything yet š®.
Coming across Ore Hill in a big pine forest.
Today’s hike was rather tame, with the exception of the trail being wet and muddy. Wet & muddy is not a good combination… š¬.
At 3:24 pm as I was stepping across a rock… let’s just see the pictures which speak for themselves:
š¼ Splish splash I was taking a bath šµ !
Add another dinner to Turtle Power’s score š”.
We finished hiking around 5 pm and it was sunny most of the day; temperature was 80°.

“Acts of generosity in this wild and primitive setting…where basic amenities…are intentionally absent–are often received in a heightened sense of wonder and gratitude by hikers. These acts of generosity are referred to as “trail magic.”
