Day 83 - Sunday, June 6, 2021
We got on the trail earlier today especially since it’s calling for showers throughout the day. I have my poncho but forgot my pack cover.
Today we are continuing hiking from Albert Mountain Bypass (99.9 NoBo) to Deep Gap, USFS 71 (85.0 NoBo) equaling 14.9 miles. We began hiking at 8:45 am and it was sprinkling lightly.
Lightning strike dropped a tree across the trail.
Views from Standing Indian Mountain... one of the few views we had today.
The last 1/4 mile approaching the Albert Mountain Fire tower was a very steep rock ascent. Elevation rose over 700 feet over wet slippery, treacherous rock. This was the most difficult rock scramble we have encountered to date; being wet didn’t make it any easier π€¨.
Didn’t understand the relevance of this sign? It’s not like the trail has open toilet areas?
At 3:05 pm my trekking pole kicked out just as I was coming down of a rock causing me to catch myself with my hand... that’s a drink to Turtle Power. He’s taken a commanding 2-drink, 2-dinner advantage. Not to worry, we still have a long way to go !

We finished hiking at 4:05 pm. We would have finished sooner but the rock ascent took us over an 1/2 hour to just hike that 1/4 mile.
Till next time... Happy Hiking π₯Ύ
