Day 82 - Saturday, June 5, 2021
I returned from Florida last night meeting Turtle Power at the Hilltop Inn in Franklin, NC. We are all set and ready to finish the SoBo leg of our thru-hike to Springer Mountain. We laid out 9 hikes to finish; possibly cut it to 8 if we combine the last two hikes into one long hike. We will make this call once we get closer and see how we feel, weather conditions, etc.
A few pictures of our new Condo.
We were seeing a lot of weekend day and section hikers... as we expected there wasn’t any NoBo thru-hikers.
Today’s hike had 2 moderate climbs but overall it was one of our easier hikes 🤞🏻.
There was plenty of reliable water to replenish our water today.
Turtle Power crossing US 64.
At 3:05 pm my foot caught a root catapulting me forward where I had to catch myself with my 2 hands; my poles were behind me.... one more dinner for Turtle Power 😡... and you wonder why he isn’t losing any weight. I think he’s gained weight with all he’s eating 🤢.
Local cascading falls....
We finished hiking at 4:40 pm; the temperature was 82°. Averaging over 2 mph which includes all our stops for breaks, replenishing water, etc.
Till next time... Happy Hiking 🥾
