Day 37 - Thursday, April 1, 2021

Happy April Fool’s Day!  Some of you might want to check your sugar bowls and salt shakers before you use them ... lol πŸ₯΄

The rain has cleared but with a cold front. We woke up to clear skies and a brisk 38°. It will be a windy Spring day.

Today we are continuing from Salt Pond Road (738.1 NoBo) to US 220, Daleville, VA (730.3 NoBo) for a total of  7.8 miles. Doing the extra 5.8 miles Tuesday lessened our hike today which we planned as tomorrow’s hike will be nearly 20 miles - 19.8 to be exact.

We began hiking the 1.25 mile on Salt Pond Road from the BRP to the AT trailhead at 10:00 am. It took us 1/2 hour to get to the trailhead.

Some wonder why there are gates on the AT?

I guess they told them..... 🀭

Looking back at Fulhardt Knob.

Trailhead at VA 652.

The AT crossing under I81 on VA 779.

We finished hiking at 2:30 pm. The temperature was 40° and the wind was gusting all day.

Today was an uneventful day as far as hiking goes. I hope those who follow the blog are enjoying the adventure as much as Turtle Power and I are. I know Bob Runkle is checking it regularly making sure I’m keeping the hiking miles logged accurately... πŸ‘πŸ»

Till next time... Happy Hiking  πŸ₯Ύ
