Day 25 - Saturday, March 20, 2022
Happy first Day of Spring! π₯
We woke up to clear skies and a chilly 27° π₯Ά. Hopefully today’s hike will be a little more seasonal.
Today we are hiking from West to Skyline 77.5, Ivy Creek Overlook (896.5 NoBo) to the Blackrock Parking Area (886.0 NoBo) for a total of 10.5 miles.
We began hiking at 9:10 am. It warmed up quickly with the bright sun shining.
Just a few minutes into our hike we saw this deer feeding about 20 yards from us with no care in the world. The deer have no fear of humans on the trail.
Having lunch at Loft Mountain Wayside.
View from Ivy Creek Overlook.
I’ve finally realized the difference between a “gap” and a “gap overlook”. A “gap overlook” is the view you can see from a scenic view point. A “gap” is the lowest point between two “gap overlooks”; which means you just finished a major descent and are about to begin a significant ascent π₯΄. I don’t like gaps...
It’s easy to loose track of the days on the trail. The trail was very crowded today; then we remembered today was Saturday.
We finished hiking at 2:20 pm. It was 46° and we had bright sun all day. Tomorrow’s weather is expected to be a little warmer.
Till next time... Happy Hiking π₯Ύ

You may or may not have noticed some hidden metaphors that I have put in my daily entries. One in particular is my smiley emoji that I sign off with every day. For those who remember, Carol Burnett always tugged on her ear on every show to say hello to her Grandmother. That emoji π is my saying hello and I’m thinking of you to all the special people in my Life... you know who you are!
