Day 23 - Wednesday, March 10, 2021
We woke up to a warm temperature of 34°.
Today we begin hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the George Washington National Forest from the Three Ridges Overlook, BRP 13.2 (845.7 NoBo) to VA 56, Tye River Suspension bridge (834.5 NoBo) which equals 11.2 miles. Today’s hike will also be taking us near 4000 ft; I’ll be curious if we have issues with ❄️ and π§.
Pictures speak a1000 words... I thought I’d let them speak for themselves... enjoy your walk in the woods.
We had lunch on top of Three Ridges Mountain, elevation 3937 feet, but there was not not much of a view as there was a lot of brush and undergrowth.
Extra supplies are sometimes left for others by hikers or Trail Angels. Someone left fuel and a delicious instant broccoli and cheese dish π
We finished hiking at 2:35 pm and the temperature was 69°.
The past weeks have been incredible. Today was the second day in a row with temperatures above 60°. Spring will be here soon and the forest will become alive with new growth and vegetation. The black flies hatched today so head nets and bug spray will become part of our essential equipment.
Today is also the last day we will hike for a week as we are restocking supplies and equipment. I’m getting my tent. I’ll be going to Florida π and Jim is returning to New York π₯΄π₯Ά.
Till next time... Happy Hiking π₯Ύ
